The Tedds for Word Developer tab includes commands for creating Examples just as we do in the Tedds Library. The examples you create can then be accessed directly from the library via the 'My Calculations' index.
Tedds Developer tab
- To access the Tedds Developer tab, in Tedds for Word select ‘Tedds > More > Options> General: Environment’ and check the box for Show Tedds Developer tab:

Create the example
- From the Examples group on Tedds Developer tab click New, select the Calc Library and then the Calc Item for the calculation you want to create the example for. The calculation can either be from your own User Libraries or from one of the Tedds System Libraries. In this tutorial we will use the ‘Steel beam design only’ Calc Item from the US AISC360 steel beam System Library.
Image - Select the Calc Library where you want to store the example. If you are creating examples for Tedds System Library calcs we recommend that you store all of your examples in one Calc Library file.
Image - When prompted confirm that you want to create the example in a new document.
- Enter a name for the new example, use something that allows you to identify the example clearly and then click OK. This will insert the required information and commands into the new document:

- Enter all the values you want setup and then finish the calculation, the variables you have entered will already have been saved to your chosen Calc Library file.
- Select the Tedds Developer tab and in the ‘Insert marked up’ group click ‘Save’, this will save the output into your chosen Calc Library file

Create the Set for My Calculations
To make the example available from the My Calculations index you must now create a Calc Set that includes the examples you want to be available.
- Open the Library Access System
- Select ‘File > Import…’
- Select the Calc Library file in which you have saved your examples
- A new Calc Set will be created with references to all the examples, each example will result in two references, one to the item that stores the variables for the example which will be named “Example variables…” and the other which stores the output of the example.
Image - Delete from the Calc Set all the references to the items that store the variables i.e. “Example variables 01”, “Examples variables 02”, etc. and edit the Group name if you wish.
Image - Save the Calc Set to your default Calc Set directory which will ensure that the set appears automatically in the library when you select 'My calculations'.
