I cannot activate my Tekla Tedds PAK - The message "The product activation key you have entered is not a local computer locked license product activation key" is displayed. How can I resolve this?

Question I have installed Tekla Tedds but when I try to activate my Product Activation Key (PAK) the message "The product activation key you have entered is not a local computer locked license product activation key" is displayed.  Answer If the PAK code you have received begins with "42334" or "52334" then this is a Server (network) license. This means that the license can be activated (and used) on one machine (this machine will become the 'license server'), and any other machine connected to your network can also use the license (see further below for information on how to do this). I cannot launch Tedds. "Error 25" is displayed within the License Manager. How can I resolve this?

Question When attempting to launch Tedds the License Manager launches instead, stating Error 25 within the Status page. Answer Upgrade the Tekla License Service on the License Server. This can be downloaded from our website here and must be installed onto the License Server with the following options (include the third option if Tedds is also used on the license server):   Due to significant changes to the current version of the Tekla License Service, this upgrade is required on the license server to enable the use of Tedds 2017 (or any product downloaded after March 2017). I cannot launch Tedds. "Error 18" is displayed within the License Manager. How can I resolve this?

Question: When attempting to launch Tedds, the License Manager is launched instead, displaying "Error 18" within the Status page. Answer: Check whether a license has been issued for the version of Tedds that you have installed - if not, you can request this from your local Trimble office If you have been issued a license for the version you have installed, ensure that this has been activated on your server If your license has been activated on your server, ensure that you have configured your licensing settings to use the correct server as shown below Go to Start > All Apps > Tekla

I cannot launch Tedds when connecting over a VPN. What changes can I make to resolve this?

Question When I try to launch Tedds when connecting across a VPN, the License Manager launches instead, displaying errors. This issue does not occur when connecting over my local network. What changes can I make to resolve this? Answer When I attempt to use Tedds across a VPN, connection issues between the server and client machines may occur, preventing Tedds from launching.  A common cause of this can be the firewall on the server and/or the client machine(s) blocking the License Service and possibly Tedds/Structural Designer due to IP packet encryption across the VPN. Since installing Tekla Tedds 2017 Windows seems to sometimes restart unexpectedly - are they connected?

We have had isolated reports, that under some specific circumstances, that after installing Tekla Tedds 2017 some Windows 7 machines are experiencing an intermittent issue whereby the machine reboots shortly after the first boot of the day. Diagnosis Unfortunately the reboot is a failure of Windows at the lowest level and therefore there is no information logged in the Event log or captured by a MiniDump. We have managed to track down the issue to be related to a Compatibility update for Windows 7 deployed by a Microsoft Update. The update creates a scheduled task which performs diagnostics

Why is my antivirus flagging the Tekla install file as containing a threat?

We have seen a few reports from users whereby some antivirus software flags the Tekla installation files as containing a threat, for example: We have processes in place to ensure our downloads do not contain threats, but sometimes antivirus programs will flag them with what is called a false positive. In order to verify that the file you have downloaded is the same file that we have distributed please check the hash of the file you have downloaded before running the downloaded file on your system. Why does my unreinforced masonry retaining wall design use a characteristic flexural strength of zero?

Question Why does my unreinforced masonry retaining wall design use a characteristic flexural strength of zero?    Answer When using the retaining wall analysis and design (EN1992/EN1997/EN1997) calculation for an unreinforced masonry wall panel calculation to EC 1992, the flexural strength of the wall is always zero (0) therefore relying on the axial load on the wall for bending resistance. The source information for the flexural strength (fxk) being zero is BS EN 1996-1-1:2005 Note 1 of clause 6.3.4 in the code which states: The flexural strength of masonry fxk1 [i.e. that parallel to the

Is Tekla Structural License Service compatible with Microsoft Server 2016?

Update: Although we don't yet test the Tekla Structural License Service on Windows Server 2016, Tekla Structural License Service v2.04, first released in February 2018, includes Sentinel RMS 9.2 which officially supports Windows Server 2016. The 3rd party licensing service, Sentinel RMS License Service, packaged with Tekla Structural License Service v2.02, shipped in March 2017, is only officially supported by it's developers Gemalto (previously SafeNet) on Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 and 2012 R2. So currently Windows Server 2016 is not yet officially supported. However in practice
